Terence E Matthews

Flanders, NJ. Mr. Terence Edward Matthews, 54, died on June 4, 2023 at home. He was born in Manhattan, NY and was raised in Tappan, NY. He attended Bergen Catholic High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He went on to attend The University of Scranton, where he received a BA in marketing and communications. It was here that he met his beloved wife, Julie. Soon after graduation, he moved to Nashville, TN to work for Anheuser-Busch, Inc. He stayed with AB for over 20 years and worked in sales as a Senior Key Account Manager/Director. While at AB, he also lived in Memphis, TN, and Buffalo, NY, before settling with his family in Flanders, NJ.

Terry was a diehard Giants and Rangers fan and loved attending Giants games with his friends and with his children. He was passionate about music, having attended over 200 concerts in his lifetime. He loved playing golf, fishing and skiing. He also enjoyed distance running and successfully competed in four marathons. He was most proud of his two children and loved watching them follow in his footsteps, as accomplished distance runners as well. He loved spending his summers with his family in LBI and on the Chesapeake Bay in MD. Terry was famous for his amazing smoked ribs which he pridefully prepared for neighborhood barbeques. He was blessed with many friends and a beautiful, loving family. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Matthews, daughter Charlotte Matthews, and son Kevin Matthews. He was predeceased by his father, Edward Matthews. He also leaves his mother Patricia Matthews of Southbury, CT and his sister Megan (and Dave) Cadelina of Bethany, CT, brother-in-law Mark Patullo of Stafford, VA, nephews Alex and Will Cadelina and Michael Patullo and niece, Caroline Cadelina.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ (973)-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Tuesday, June 13 from 4-7 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, June 14 at 10 am, at St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna, NJ. A private interment will be held at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery.
