Roxbury Township: Mrs. Bertha “Shirley” Zeek, 103, died after a short illness on January 18, 2022 at Care One in Parsippany. The youngest child of Joseph Toth and Mary Kalan Toth, she was born in 1918 in Rockaway Township, NJ, and grew up in Wharton and Dover before moving to Succasunna over sixty years ago. She was a program analyst at Picatinny Arsenal, retiring in the early 1970s. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, family history, and travel. She was active and vibrant until a few weeks ago, and would have celebrated her 104th birthday in April.

 She was predeceased by her husband of forty-nine years, Leonard A. Zeek in 1997. She was also predeceased by her six siblings.She is survived by her nephews William E. O’Brien of Dover, NJ, George P. (Shirley) O’Brien of Dover, John J. (Elaine) O’Brien of Mt. Bethel, PA, her nieces Ruth A. (James, deceased) Standridge of Mine Hill, NJ, Shirley (William) Milburn of South Carolina, and Sharon Bone of Mt. Arlington, NJ, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

She received special care from her home aide, Carrie Medaugh, and also the staff at Starburst Home Health of Morristown, NJ, for which her family and friends are very grateful.

 Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Friday (January 21st) from10-11 a.m., with the Service here at 11 a.m. The interment will follow at the Succasunna Methodist Cemetery.
