Kearny / Roxbury Township, On October 9, 2017 Sarah Agnes Lynn Thomson Johnston, 84 was called home, with her loving family at her side. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born and raised in Kearny, NJ, wife of the late David H. Johnston. Sarah was the daughter of the late Sarah and Hugh Thomson and sister of the late Mary T. Berding. She was the cherished mother of Janice and Brian Lawrey of Green Township, NJ with whom she resided for the past eighteen years, Kenneth and Michele Johnston of Mine Hill, NJ and David and Susan Johnston of Kenvil, NJ. She was a devoted grandmother to Brian and Michele Lawrey, Kaitlyn and Tyler Johnston, and Hana and Joshua Johnston. She was a graduate of Kearny High School, and raised her family in Roxbury Township. Sarah later moved to Rockaway. Sarah decided it was time to go back to school, and as a “sixty-something” earned her Associates Degree with Honors from County College of Morris.
Sarah loved reading and crafts, watching tennis, was an avid NY Giants and Elvis fan. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family. Sarah will be sadly missed by her family and friends especially her faithful friend Kathy Grom. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday evening, October 12th from 5 – 9 pm at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home at 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday 10 am at the Succasunna Presbyterian Church, 99 Main Street, Succasunna, followed by the interment at the Church Cemetery. Donations can be made in Sarah’s name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
