Rollins “Bo” Bogardus

Roxbury Township, Mr. Rollins “Bo” Bogardus, 78, of Succasunna, passed away on September 23, 2011.  He was born in Newark, New Jersey, on October 20, 1932, son of the late Ethel Riker Bogardus and Herbert Rollins Bogardus.  Mr. Bogardus served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954 and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck in 1958, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  Mr. Bogardus was a retired investigator for State Farm Insurance, and co-founder of Bogardus Brothers Trucking Inc. and Hopatcong Rigging Inc.  After retirement, he worked part-time as a courier for Longo Industries in Wharton.  Bo was a lifelong NY Giants fan who loved driving and all things trucks, enjoyed swimming in his backyard pool, and took special pride in caring for his lawn.

 Mr. Bogardus was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Nancy (Langan) Bogardus, in 2005.  He is survived by daughter Susan O’Donnell and her husband Mark of Succasunna; daughter Linda Wheeler of Succasunna; son Michael and his wife Sheryl of Succasunna; brother Donald and his wife Constance of Hopatcong; brother James and fiancée Lynette Bailey of Sparta; seven grandchildren, Ryan Mark, Rose, Shaun and Grace O’Donnell, Matthew Wheeler, and Zachary and Nancy Bogardus.  He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m.  The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at the Funeral Home, with the interment to follow at the Flanders – Hillside Cemetery.
