Roxbury Township, Mr. Roger W Tasnady, Sr., 78, died on November 18, 2021 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Paramus. He was born in Dover and lived in Mt. Arlington for many years before moving to Roxbury Township in 1985. He Graduated from Roxbury High School and married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth. He joined the U S Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Roger was a highly decorated, combat veteran and an expert marksman. After returning from Vietnam, he joined the Mt. Arlington police force and was a volunteer fireman. He later retired as a Shop Forman for the Komline – Sanderson Company in Peapack Gladstone. Throughout his life, Roger was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Roger was a devoted grandfather who took every opportunity to spend time with his granddaughters and became known to many as “Pa.” He was also an active member of the Kenvil VFW post 2833.
He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Trevena) Tasnady, of 46 years, in 2010. He is survived by his sons; Roger W Tasnady, Jr (and Lisa) of Independence, and William J Tasnady (and Sandra) of Roxbury Township, his 4 grandchildren; Lauren, Samantha, Ashleigh, and Alexandria, and by his sister Margaret “Peggy” Tasnady Chambers of Texas.
Friends and relatives may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Monday (November 22nd) from 4 – 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10 am., with the interment to follow at the Succasunna Methodist Cemetery.
