Peter J Shukstis

Roxbury Township, Mr. Peter Joseph Shukstis, 89, died on September 10, 2023 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. He was born in Pittston, PA and grew up there, before moving to Succasunna 60 years ago. He served in the U S Army from 1956 – 1962. He was a retired technician for Siemans Electronics in Florham Park for 20 years, before retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Therese R C Church. He enjoyed spending time with his immediate family and his family in Pennsylvania. Polka dancing with his wife, working on cars, West Coast FL beaches with his granddaughter, riding on his son-in- law Gary’s boat, watching football, as he was a diehard NY Giants fan. 

He is survived by his wife Roseanne (Cheresko) Shukstis of 64 years, by his 4 daughters, Paulette (Shukstis) Claudin of Cape Coral, FL, Ann Marie (Shukstis) Botro of Cedar Knolls,NJ, Mary (Shukstis) Gaskill of Kenvil, NJ and Elizabeth (Shukstis) Korec of Venice, FL. 4 grandchildren Michelle Claudin of Cape Coral, FL, Patricia Korec of Sarasota, FL, James Korec and Kelly Korec of Venice, FL. His sister, Elaine (Shukstis) Mikolosko of Swoyersville, PA, 2 son-in-laws, Steve Botro of Cedar Knolls, NJ, James Korec of Venice, FL and many nieces and nephews. 

He was the son of the late Peter and Angela Shukstis, and was also predeceased by his 2 sisters, Rosemary (Shukstis) Kolessar and Christal (Shukstis) Jacobs and his son-in-law, Gary Claudin. 

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Friday (September 15th) from 3 – 7  pm. The Funeral Liturgy will then be held on Saturday, 10 am at St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna. The interment will follow with Military Honors at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Alzheimers Association at alz.org
