Marjorie Arneson

    Roxbury Township, Marjorie Arneson (Josephsen) went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 30, 2022 at the age of 98.  She was born in Brooklyn on June 4, 1924 to Ole & Andora Josephsen in the home that her father built in Flatbush. She was the fifth of six sisters. She attended James Madison High School and went on to work as a bookkeeper at Guardian Life Ins. Co. Marjorie married George Henry Arneson on Oct 17th, 1953. In 1957 they moved to Huntington Sta, NY and then to Succasunna NJ in 1969. They had the blessing of 46 years together before George’s passing in 2000.

     Marjorie came to know the Lord as a teenager and served the Lord all the rest of her life. She was a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout Leader, Pioneer Girl Leader, sang in the church choir, served in WMF, and she volunteered in Hillside Preschool Helping Hands until just a few years ago. She also volunteered outside of the church at Tuscarora work week, Youth for Christ store on Long Island, Dover Christian Nursing Home and Welkind Rehabilitation Hospital.  She served her neighbors, friends and family by making meals and baking for them. She was known for her delicious meatballs and julekake.

     She loved being together with all of her Josephsen family.  There was always lots of love, laughter and singing.

     She is survived by her 3 children, Andrea Salvesen (Warren), Lorraine Tervo (Wesley). And Donald Arneson, 5 grandchildren, Lindsey Wensley (William). Emily Geiger (Stephen), Brian Tervo (Kara), Rebecca Muntz (Kristopher), Matthew Tervo (Cassidy) and 7 great grandchildren, Elise and Sierra Wensley, Vivienne, Rosa and Juliette Tervo and Haakon and Karianne Geiger.  She also leaves being her youngest sister Elaine Jacobsen.

     A memorial service will be held at Hillside Lutheran Brethren Church, Succasunna NJ on Jan 14th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center, Market Street Mission or Hillside Church.
