Marion M Harries

Marion Margaret Harries, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to many, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her adoring family on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at the age of 97 years young. Marion lived a vibrant, active, and independent life. She met each and every day with both a vivacious spirit and compassion for others.

She was born to Joseph and Anna (Fauth) Duffy on June 14, 1926, in New York before moving to Flanders, New Jersey where she grew up. After graduating from Roxbury High School, Marion attended nursing school where she made many life-long friends and became a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career working on the labor and delivery floor at a local hospital before marrying her first husband, Theodore “Ted” Clarence Johnston in 1948. Together, they welcomed three children: Barry Ted in 1950 followed by twins Jill Patricia and Joanne Beth in 1952. Marion enjoyed staying home to raise her children for many years in Succasunna, New Jersey before resuming her nursing career as a public-school nurse for Jefferson Township, New Jersey.

In 1975, she married Albert “Al” Cyril Harries, and they spent four happily married years together before Al passed away in 1979. Marion spent the rest of her life devoted to her family which includes five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who affectionately refer to her as “Mimi.” She also enjoyed time with her beloved friends, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, engaging in several church activities including choir and bible studies, volunteering at her local food pantry and ultimately making the lives of those around her better through her loving and caring ways.

Marion is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and her beloved daughter, Jill. She is survived by her son, Barry, and her daughter Joanne, as well as her five grandchildren: Kenneth, Kimberly, Phillip, Peter, and Robert. She is also survived by her four precious great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Jack, Luke, and Josie.
