Roxbury Township, Mrs. Lillian M. Ashley, 90, died on July 8, 2014 at her home. She was born in Queens, NY and lived in Queens before moving to Roxbury Township 64 years ago. She was employed at Picatinny Arsenal, then helped her husband build and manage Ashley’s Auto Body in Flanders. She was an active member of the Antique Automobile Club, the Vintage Chevrolet Club and the NJ Association of Corvair Enthusiasts and enjoyed touring and other activities with the clubs. She enjoyed many activities through the years, such as cake decorating, baking and china painting, and loved to travel. She was an avid historian, and was well informed about politics and current affairs.
She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence H Ashley, Sr. of 62 years, in 2012. She is survived by her son Lawrence H (and Donna) Ashley, Jr. of Succasunna and daughter Lynn Ashley of Flanders, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Friday, July 18th from 6 – 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 10am, followed by a luncheon at Flanders Fire House. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
