Joseph V Cannavo

Roxbury Township,  Mr. Joseph Vincent Cannavo, 77, died on September 1, 2011 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was born in Long Branch and grew up in Red Bank. He lived in PA and Canada before moving to Succasunna 37 years ago. He served in the U S Army from 1955 – 1957 and then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, Magna Cum Laude, from Monmouth College in 1961. He was a trade relations manager at Berlex Laboratories in Wayne for 30 years before retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna, the Roxbury Township Senior Citizens Club, and was an avid Giants fan.

He is survived by his wife “Marnie” (James) Cannavo of 50 years, and by his 3 children; Ann (and Ken) Whalen of Annandale, Joe (and Shereen) of Stewartsville, and Mary (and Randy) Rivera of Pt. Pleasant, and by his 8 grandchildren; Christopher, Megan, and Caitlin Whalen, Andrew, Alex, and Anna Cannavo, and D J and April Rivera.

Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com   on Monday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be on Tuesday, 10 an, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Succasunna, with interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Chester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org .
