Roxbury Township,  Mr. John J Dempsey, 88, died on May 2, 2012 at the Holly Manor Nursing Home in Mendham. He was born in Manhattan, NY and lived in Dix Hills, NY before moving to Ledgewood 15 years ago. He served in The U S Army during WW II and was an Insurance Underwriter for the Allstate Insurance Co. in Peekskill for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna and former member of St. Matthew’s R C Church and founder of the Church C Y O, in LI. Following his retirement he was a professional tutor at the Kumon Learning Center in Randolph and member of the Kiwanis Club in LI.

He was predeceased by his wife Irene Dempsey last year. He is survived by his 4 children; Brian of Boca Raton, FL, Leslie Marchese of Basking Ridge, Keith of Randolph, and Craig of East Islip, LI, and 9 grandchildren. He also leaves his sister  Grace Dempsey, nephew Richard Rayman, of Long Island, niece Doree Soloman of NC, and nephew Kenneth Soloman of GA, and many beloved cousins.

Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264)  davishepplewhitefh.com on Friday from 3 – 5 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, 9 am, at St. Matthews R C Church, in Randolph. The interment will follow at the Pinelawn Cemetery in LI, NY.
