Mt. Olive Township, Mr. Gin M. Woo, 85, died on November 21, 2022 at his home. He was born in Taishan, China and came to the United States in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army in South Korea after the Korean War and graduated from Concordia University Chicago. He was a special education teacher at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers for decades.
He was an avid tennis player and fan. He taught tennis lessons and coached tennis teams in Westchester County before moving to Flanders, NJ, over 20 years ago. He was often seen on the tennis courts at Flanders Crossing, which were recently named after him.
He was predeceased by his first wife Joyce Cheng Woo in 1988, and by his second wife Lai Chan Woo in 2020. He is survived by his four children: Nicole Woo of Honolulu, Eileen L. (and Robert) Bennett of Succasunna, Suzanne Chan (and John) Giuliano of Ledgewood, and William S. (and Patricia) Chan of Campbell Hall, NY. He also leaves his three siblings: Marylyn (and Richard) Augur of Oro Valley, AZ, Muriel Woo of Riverdale, NY, and Dick Woo of Manhattan, as well as his six grandchildren: Danielle (and David) Bennett, Michelle Bennett, Christina Giuliano, Daniel Giuliano, Melissa Chan, and Jaiden Chan.
Friends and family may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ, (973)-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Saturday, November 26th from 1 – 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Heart Association, the Dementia Society of America, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
