Roxbury Township, Mrs. Dorothy “Dottie” J Sabo, 80, died on November 9, 2012 in Rockaway. She was born in Blakeley, PA and lived in Mine Hill before moving to Succasunna 44 years ago. She was a 1949 graduate of Roxbury High School and worked for the Roxbury Township Board of Education as the secretary to the Assistant Superintendent for business from 1969-1976, and then as the secretary to the Superintendent of Schools from 1976-1994. She was an active member of the Succasunna United Methodist Church and often volunteered for their clerical work. She was a member of the Ever-Young Senior Citizens Club and, also an avid reader and golfer, who loved traveling and the Giants and Yankees.
She was predeceased by her husband George N Sabo in 2001, father Frank Davis in 1953, mother Louise Evans Davis in 1987, and by her brother Frank Davis in 1981. She is survived by her son Glenn A Sabo of Succasunna, daughter Laurie J (and Brian) Nappi of Rockaway, granddaughters; Kristin Van Eeuwen (and Jason) of Rockaway and Jennifer Nappi of Secaucus, great granddaughter Madison Van Eeuwen, sister Lois Robbe of PA, brother-in-law Robert (and Sallie) Sabo, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com on Tuesday from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10 am, using the Ledgewood Baptist Church, with the interment to follow at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Dover. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Succasunna United Methodist Church Building Fund, 91 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 07876.
