Stanhope, NJ Mrs. Doris Marshall (80) died on January 6, 2011 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, the daughter of German immigrants Dora and Hans Marshall. The family moved to Caldwell for a few years after WWII, finally settling and building a homestead in Hopatcong in the early 50’s. Doris moved to Stanhope in 1999, and remained a resident until her passing. She worked at the Morris County Court House in Morristown for 18 years before retiring in 1995, having attained the level of Principal Docket Clerk. She attended the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Stanhope, was a graduate of the Dover Business School, and member of the Stanhope Senior Citizens Club. She loved listening and playing music, cooking, sewing, traveling and most of all, being with family.
She was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2005 and by her son Lawrence K. Marshall in 1968, and is survived by her daughter Lisa Marshall of Stanhope, son Richard John (and Ann) Marshall of Troy, VA, sister Susan Woienski of Hopatcong, granddaughters; Cindy Marshall and Samantha Heinrich, great granddaughters Ariyana Poole and Alyssa Baker, and nephews John and James Dewald.
The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, 9:30 am at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 143 Brooklyn Rd, Stanhope. Arrangements are by the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St, Succasunna, (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com.
