Mr. Salvatore Atanasio, 84, died on February 26, 2017 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. He was born and raised in New York City and lived in Hopatcong before moving to Succasunna in 1972. He served in the U S Air Force during the Korean War, as a Airman Second Class.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. His family was his life and loved spending time with them. He was always there for anyone who needed him. He loved the Lord and was very involved in his church, Full Gospel, being a treasurer and teacher for many years. He was a manufacturing manager for Lockheed Electronics in Denville. Following his retirement he then worked with his son Salvatore at The Blue Eagle Truck Center in Rockaway.
He was predeceased by his son Salvatore Jr. in 2012 and by his grandson Health Wood in 2015. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Macaluso) Atanasio, of 59 years. He also leaves his 4 children; Paula (and Mario) Dellafortuna of North Plainfield, Dominic (and Joanne) Atanasio of Los Angles, CA, Rosemarie (and Michael) Primamore of East Hanover, and Michael (and Emma) Atanasio of Springfield, daughter-in-law Amanda Atanasio of Hackettstown, 9 grandchidren; Michelle, Mario (and Shannon), Michael, Talia, Christopher, Maya, Erica, Megan, and Charlene, 3 great grandchildren; Tommy, Ava, Giulana, and a brother John Atanasio of Florida.
Friends may visit on Saturday 10 am – 12 noon at the Full Gospel Church, 190 West Northfield Avenue, Livingston, with the Funeral Service at 12 noon at the church. Arrangements are by the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name through his family.
