Normandy Beach, NJ Mr. Donald F Roos (79) died on October 17, 2010 at the Warren County Medical Center. He was born in Newark and grew up in Budd Lake. He lived in Succasunna for 30 years before moving to Normandy Beach 11 years ago. He served in the U S Air Force during the Korean War and later earned his BS in Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was an Engineer at Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. in Livingston where he worked for many years before retiring in 1988. Following his retirement he then worked as the Director of Public Works in Roxbury Twp. He was a member of St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna, Life Member of St. Therese Knights of Columbus, and 4th Degree Knight at St. Joseph’s R C Church in Toms River. He was also a Professional Engineer, Mayor of Roxbury Twp. in 1982 and 1986 and served on the planning board from 1977-1980, Roxbury Twp. Town Council from 1979-1987, and on the Morris County Planning Board from 1988-1993.
He is survived by his wife Patricia A (Howley) of 54 years, and 2 daughters; Janice (and Randy) Maccione of Succasunna and Kristin (and Joe) Gates of Hopatcong. He also leaves his 3 brothers; Richard Roos of Toms River, Robert Roos of Stroudsburg, PA, and Martin Hughes of Mine Hill, sister Carol Anne Hughes of West Orange, and 4 grandchildren; Robert and Michael Maccione and Joseph and Daniel Gates.
