Succasunna, NJ.  Mrs. Melissa A Oefelein (nee Bluemel) passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on August 5, 2022. She was born on November 17, 1931 in Rock Springs, Wyoming and graduated from Woodbury College in Los Angeles, CA with a degree in Fashion Design. She was a homemaker, and had a short career at Gordon Publications, and enjoyed handcrafts, crochet, and knitting. She was a member of St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna. 

 She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph C Oefelein, of 62 years; her three sisters; one granddaughter; and one great grandson. She was a wonderful mother of MaryAnne Cospito, Joseph C. (and Lisa) Oefelein, Carol (and Alan) Bilsky, Peggy (and John) Kavanaugh, James (and Kathy) Oefelein, Peter (and Carolyn) Oefelein, and Melissa (and Bert) Wartman. She also leaves her 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Friday, August 12th, from 4 – 8 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Therese R C Church on Saturday at 12 noon. The interment will be private.
