Mt. Olive Township,   Mary E. Gonnella (nee Faccidomo), 91, of Hackettstown died peacefully at Paragon Village on April 5, 2020.  She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Carmen J. Gonnella.

Mary was born in Newark where she attended St. Vincent Academy. Later, she was employed by PSE&G.  She married Carmen in 1949 and resided for a time in East Orange. In 1957 they made plans and built a house in Succasunna where they raised their three children, Michael (and Karen) Gonnella of Wayne, Thomas (and Arlene) Gonnella of Short Hills and MaryAnn (and Edward) Williams of Independence Township. After Carmen retired, Mary and Carmen enjoyed traveling to Florida and Europe.  Mostly, they treasured their time with family, spending many holidays together and enjoying summertime barbeques around the backyard pool.

Mary was a member of St. Therese R.C. Church in Succasunna and for nine years was employed by the Allied Chemical Corporation. More recently, Mary enjoyed volunteering at the gift shop at Hackettstown Medical Center. In addition to her three children, Mary is survived by nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Due to the current circumstances, all funeral arrangements will be private, by the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com). The burial will be at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Mary’s name to the charity of your choice.
