Stanhope, NJ. Mrs. Karen Lynn Sillence, 75, passed away on January 24, 2023 at the Troy Hills Center in Parsippany surrounded by family after bravely battling a number of health conditions for many years.
She was born and raised in Morristown where she met her beloved husband Thomas. She raised her family in Roxbury Township before moving to Stanhope seven years ago. Karen retired from Sun Life as a payroll administrator. She was a long-time member of the Ledgewood Baptist Church where she won an award for her white chocolate peach melba cheesecake at the church bake sale. In addition to her love for baking, she was an avid reader and great connector; she had a wonderful way of making everyone around her feel included and at ease.
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years Thomas Sillence in 2015, her son Robert Sillence in 2005, her parents Robert & Helen Evans, brother Raymond Keith Evans, and sister Darlene Markey. She is survived by her daughter Kerry (and Brad) Mittelstadt of Stanhope, granddaughter Kayla Castro and great grandson Ezequiel Castro of Rockaway, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Daniel and Barbara Jean Sillence, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home,96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ,(973)-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Saturday, January 28, from 9 – 11 am. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 am at the Funeral Home. The interment will follow at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery.
