Roxbury Township, Mr. Joseph G. Tekula, 80, died peacefully on August 27, 2021 at his home. He was born in Newark, grew up in West Caldwell, and graduated from the Grover Cleveland High School. He then proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he met his wife in England. Later he moved to Roxbury Township where he resided for 55 years. He was the founder and owner of Century 21 Joe Tekula Realty in Succasunna for many years. As an active member of St. Therese RC Church, he served as a Eucharistic Minister, member of their Knights of Columbus, and volunteer. He was also an avid fisherman and member of the Knee Deep Club, founding member of the West Morris Area YMCA, and gave many hours as a volunteer at the Lyons VA Hospital and at Merry Heart Nursing Home. He was a former member of the Roxbury Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sheila Tekula (nee Warby), daughter Jo-Ann Schott of Long Valley, and son Joseph J. (and Christine) Tekula of Belvidere. He also leaves his grandchildren; Lauren (and Jeffrey) Sheehan, Cameron (and Elyse) Schott, and Kayla Schott (fiancé Ryan Cross), great grandchildren Tristan and Henry Sheehan and Everett Schott, and sister Susan (and Leo) LaFlesh, brother David (and Elaine) Tekula, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Liturgy, with Military Honors, will be held on Friday September 3rd, 10 am, at St. Therese RC Church in Succasunna.
