John Patrick Rooney

John Patrick Rooney, age 58, passed away in his home in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

 

John was born on April 30, 1952, in Morristown, New Jersey to Robert J. Rooney and Virginia K. Rooney. John graduated from Roxbury High School in 1970 where he enjoyed performing in numerous theater productions.

 

John and his wife Karen (Fisher) began their life together in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania in 1977 where he was the proud owner of “Four Seasons Florist” for 15 years. John and his family were active members of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church where he sang in the choir and served on the board until moving to East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in 1999.

 

John will especially be remembered for his witty sense of humor, fierce sweet tooth, caring demeanor, and the passion to unselfishly serve others. John had an uncanny ability to impact the lives of those he encountered from all walks of life and welcomed them into his family. John will also be fondly remembered as “Pap Pap” to his eight grandchildren whom he adored, cherished, and frequently invoked the powers of “tickle monster” upon.

 

John is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen of East Stroudsburg; his daughter, Kara Poorman, her husband Stewart, and their three children: Kalyn, Tony & Bria of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; his son, Rian Rooney, his wife Anna and their two children: Mia & Rhys of Fishersville, Virginia; his daughter, Jana Rooney, her fiancé Will Cuti, and their daughter Hannah of Chestnut Ridge, New York; his son, Chad Rooney, and wife Laura, and their two sons: Jayden & Tyler of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Kylee Rooney of Corolla, North Carolina; his mother, Virginia Rooney and his sister, Philadelphia of Mount Arlington, New Jersey; his brother, Robert Rooney, and his wife Paulette of South Dakota, as well as several nieces & nephews in addition to his godsons Ullysses and Cameron Suarez. John was preceded in death by his father Robert J. Rooney on February 4, 1992.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-5 PM with the Funeral Service at 5 pm, at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ (973-584-7264). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcomed to a charity of your choosing.
