Florence Flannery

Florence Drennan Flannery, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at home in Netcong, NJ surrounded by family. Florence, daughter of John and Frances Drennan was born on December 5, 1928 in Jersey City, NJ. She was a proud nurse, having graduated from the Jersey City Medical Center School of Nursing in 1950. She worked as a registered visiting nurse in Jersey City as well as at South Amboy Hospital. She lived for 22 years with her husband and family in South Amboy. Florence was the loving wife of Edward Flannery, Jr., having celebrated 60 years of marriage, and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was blessed with 6 children, 27 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. She loved to take camping trips with her family in Port of the Islands, Florida, crocheted an Afghan blanket for every grandchild, and made the best crummy apple pie and mint chocolate brownies. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her 5 children; Brian (Barbara) Flannery, James (Patricia) Flannery, Nancy (Gregory) Keller, Judi (Earl) Worgess and Maureen (Marc) Seelinger and her daughter-in-law MaryLou (Edward) Flannery. She is predeceased by her husband Edward Flannery; her son Edward Flannery, III; her 6 brothers, Jack, Ray, Tom, Stephan, Ken, and Jerry;  2 sisters, Jane Ann and Frances; her granddaughter, Deirdre, and great granddaughter, Sylvia.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com), on Sunday, April 28th from 2 – 5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday. April 29th, 2024 at 11 am at St. Michael RC Church, 4 Church Street, Netcong NJ, 07857. The interment will be held at the Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway, NJ at a later date.
