Roxbury Township, Mrs. Esther J Corneilson, 96, died on October 17, 2012 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. She was born in Sogne, Norway and came to the United States in1928 settling in Hoboken, where she attended school. She then lived in Brooklyn before moving to Roxbury Township 64 years ago. She was an accomplished seamstress for many years. Esther was a long time member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Succasunna, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was in the women’s group and the sewing circle, and made hundreds of layettes and quilts for the Lutheran World Relief.
She is survived by her husband of almost 77 years, Edward M Corneilson, Jr., and by her sons; Edward N (and Linnea) Corneilson of Ocala, FL and Howard (and Susan) Corneilson with whom she lived in Roxbury Township. She also leaves her 6 grandchildren; Paul, Eric, John, and David Corneilson, Kim Hopkins and Kari Lemmermann, and 9 great grandchildren; Joshua Schmidt, Katherine, Nicholas, Kirsten, Alexander and Julian Corneilson, Erik and Kirsten Lemmermann, and Nathan Hopkins. She was predeceased by her daughter Doris and by her great grandson Christian Alexander Corneilson.
Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com on Friday from 3 – 5 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 10 am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the interment to follow at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery.
