Eric J Kinney

Roxbury Township, Eric James Kinney, 54, died on May 10, 2018 at Morristown Medical Center Hospice. He was born in Newark and grew up in Irvington. He later moved to Morris Twp. and then to Succasunna 10 years ago.

He was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and was a chef for many years at The Grande Café & Tim Schafer’s Cuisine in Morristown, The Quiet Man in Dover and he prepared meals for the congregation at the Chatham Methodist Church every Sunday for over 10 years. He earned his Bachelors degree and a Master’s degree from Seton Hall University. He then worked as a financial reporting specialist for the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark. He was also a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troop leader of Troop #54 in Succasunna. He also loved cooking and being outdoors especially fishing and hiking.

He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Minsu Cha-Kinney; 2 sons, Aiden Kinney and Eamon Kinney; his mother Mary Kinney of Morris Twp.;  twin sisters; Colleen  (Kelly) Bitar of Holly Springs, NC and Maureen Kinney of Hackettstown, two brothers; Martin (Barbara) Kinney of Lake Hopatcong and Brendan (Gail) Kinney of Fredon Twp., NJ, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit on Saturday from 3 -4 pm at the Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main St. Chatham NJ, followed by a service at 4pm.
