Audrey Svenningsen

Roxbury Township, Mrs. Audrey Jean Svenningsen, 76, died peacefully on May 20, 2018 at her home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, graduated from Wagner College with both her B.A. and M.A. in Education (1963 and 1966) and moved to Landing shortly after marrying the love of her life, Clif Svenningsen on November 25, 1967.

Audrey was an Administrator for the Suburban Propane Company in Whippany for 22 years and a proud elementary school teacher on Staten Island (P.S. #22, Port Richmond). She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Succasunna where she served on the church council and as church choir director and organist for many years. Music was a passion of hers that she inherited from her father and cultivated throughout her life. She greatly enjoyed directing choirs, going to concerts, plays and musicals and was an enthusiastic member of the Morris Choral Society.

Audrey lived her faith. She took seriously the promises and instruction of the Gospels and strived to live them out daily. She was a devoted friend whose first concern was always others.

She was predeceased by her husband Clif Svenningsen in 1996, her father and mother, John and Vera Pelmas and is survived by her 3 sons; Russell P Svenningsen (Sarah) of Sioux Falls, SD, Karl E Svenningsen (Heather) of Landing, Dale R Svenningsen of Landing, as well as 4 much-beloved grandchildren to whom she will always be “Nana” (Kersti, 16, Madelyn, 14, Anders, 16, Annika,14).
