Chester, New Jersey Mrs. Victoria “Vicky” C. Welker (101) passed away on Saturday January 14, 2012 at the Andover Subacute & Rehab in Andover, NJ, a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
Vicky was born in Morristown on January 11, 1911, the daughter of Caterina (Indelicato) and Salvatore Corrao Sr. She had three brothers and one sister who, along with her parents, are all deceased now. She lived in Morristown for the first 30 years of her life, worked at many of the stores that were “on the Green” during that time.
She married Louis Welker Sr., Newark NJ on Nov. 23, 1941. They had three children. Vicky had lived in Morris County most of her life, living in Morristown, Whippany, Dover and then Chester. For the past 6 years she resided at Andover.
Vicky, a Roman Catholic by faith, always enjoyed talking to people, sewing, crocheting, doing crafts, flowers and plants. She especially loved pizza, Italian Pastries, cookies and candy; she had a “sweet tooth” for candy (from her days of working at Lofts Candy Store in Morristown). She had a quick wit and sense of humor.
She is survived by her three children; Louis (and Barbara) of Somers Point, NJ, twins Robert (and Joyce) of Lake Hopatcong, and Victoria (and David) Little of Spring Hill, FL. She is the beloved grandmother of Cindy (and Frank) Zeller of Flanders, NJ, Amy (and Luis) Rodriguez of Lusby, MD, Christopher Little of Spring Hill, FL, Robert Jr. of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; also grandchildren Shannon, Joshua, and Amanda; and dear nieces Barbara Lake and Cathie Brown of PA, plus many other relatives.
Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com on Wednesday from 10 – 12 noon. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, 12 noon, at the Funeral Home with the interment to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ. In Lieu of flowers, because of Vicky’s love of birds and animals, the family request donations be made to a bird or animal sanctuary of your choice.
