Roxbury Township, Mr. Raymond D Scanlon, 74, died on February 17, 2012. He was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Queens, NY. He then lived in Massapequa, NY before moving to Roxbury Township 39 years ago. He served in the U S Army from 1958-1964 and then went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Fordham University, later earning his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Fairley Dickinson University. He was a Director of Hazardous Materials Transportation for the Port Authority of NY & NJ at 1 World Trade Center in New York City for 35 years before his retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R C Church in Flanders.
Mr. Scanlon is survived by his wife Kathleen of 49 years, 4 sons; Raymond C (and Tina) of Whitestone, NY, Kevin of Jefferson Township, Matthew (and Kathleen) of Easton, PA and Jonathan (and Diane) of Baltimore, MD. 4 grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Connor, Sean, and Maggie Scanlon, and 2 sisters; Barbara Dunbar of Massapequa, LI and Jean Carney of Massapequa Park, LI.
Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com on Monday from 3 – 5 & 7 – 9 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday 1 pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R C Church, 61 Main Street, Flanders, with the interment to follow at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
