Mt. Olive Township, Mrs. Lai Chan Woo, loving mother and grandmother, passed at the age 79 on February 6, 2020, at Merry Heart Nursing Home.  Born in Hong Kong, she emigrated to the United States in 1957 where she settled in Elmont, New York, with her first husband.  Widowed in 1982, she re-married in 1992 and subsequently moved to Flanders, New Jersey after retiring from Estee Lauder on Long Island in 2000. For her time in New York while proudly raising a family, she enjoyed absorbing American culture and sharing her own Chinese culture through her home cooking skills and entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her second husband during their free time.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Yik K. Chan and is survived by her husband Gin M. Woo of Flanders, three children; Eileen Chan (and Robert) Bennett of Succasunna, Suzanne Chan (and John) Giuliano of Ledgewood, and William (and Patricia) Chan of Campbell Hall, NY.  She also leaves her step-daughter Nicole Woo of Hawaii, and six grandchildren; Danielle and Michelle Bennett, Christina and Daniel Giuliano, and Melissa and Jaiden Chan.  She was the oldest of five children and leaves three brothers in Texas, a sister in California, as well as many dear in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ.   (973) 584-7264, on Sunday, February 9, from 1 – 4 pm. The interment will follow at a later time at the Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale, NY.
