GERTRUDE KUHLMANN 97, WIFE, MOTHER, WORLD WAR II NAVY NURSE
Mrs. Gertrude Kuhlmann, 97, died on April 11, 2015 at Merry Heart Health Care Center in Succasunna. She was born in Brooklyn and lived in Rockville Centre, NY, and Toms River, before moving to Succasunna 3 years ago.
Mrs. Kuhlmann, a registered nurse, attended Mary Immaculate School of Nursing in Jamaica, NY and served as a Navy Nurse during World War II and then at the South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, LI. She married Patrick (Karl) Kuhlmann and they raised their children in Rockville Centre, NY. Mr. and Mrs. Kuhlmann retired to Silver Ridge Park in Toms River.
Mrs. Kuhlmann is survived by her daughters Theresa Kuhlmann and Kathleen Baker of Succasunna, her son Kevin Kuhlmann and his wife Mary Ellen Kuhlmann of Toms River, her grandson Kevin Patrick Kuhlmann, her son-in-law Eric Peterson of Brookhaven, GA, and her good friend Marion Long of Toms River. She was predeceased by her husband Patrick in 1998 and her daughter Christine Kuhlmann Peterson, of Brookhaven, GA, in 2010.
Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Thursday from 9 – 10 am, with the Funeral Service at 10 am, at the Funeral Home. The Burial Service will be held on Thursday, 1 pm, at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
