On Tuesday, November 26, 2019, Emil Di Benedetto of Randolph, NJ, a devoted husband and father, passed away at the age of 95, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in the Bronx and as a child he traveled to Italy in order to live with his grandparents and Aunt. He then returned to the Bronx and moved to Randolph 60 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Draftsman during WW II. Emil was an avid fine artist and photographer, he combined his two favorite talents to create extraordinary art. He was employed as an Art Director with Warner-Lambert Pharmaceuticals in Morris Plains for over 30 years. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind compassionate spirit.
He was predeceased by his wife Sofie (Walter) of 61 years in 2010, by his daughter Janet Hamberger in 2000 and by his brother Philip Di Benedetto in 2003. He is survived by his 3 children; Ingeborg Preziosi of Ledgewood, Hans Joachin Winkler of Germany, and Alan Di Benedetto of Flanders. He also leaves his 8 grandchildren; Jeffrey, Scott, Steven, Sandra, Thomas, Kerry, Christine, and Carisa, his 6 great grandchildren; Anthony, Kevin, Matthew, Connor, Allison, and Julia, his sister Alma Pancir and brother Edmund and his wife Henrietta Di Benedetto, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com), on Sunday, December 1st, from 2 – 5 pm. The Graveside Service with Military Honors, will be held on Monday, 10 am, at the Locust Hill Mausoleum in Dover, NJ.
