Roxbury Township,Mrs. Eleanor Van Hoorebeke, 76, died on March 17, 2021 at the Atlantic Hospice in Dover. She was born in Montclair and grew up in Cedar Grove, graduating in 1963 from the Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls, NJ. She later lived in Totowa before moving to Landing 54 years ago. She was a retired school bus driver in Roxbury Township for 27 years.
She was a member of the Succasunna United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bible studies, was an avid reader and loved baking cookies for friends and family. She was on bowling leagues for over 40 years and enjoyed gardening and tricky trays.
She is survived by her husband William Van Hoorebeke of 56 years, and by her 2 daughters; Karen (and Rich) Poline of Budd Lake and Elizabeth “Liz” (and Ed) Mulholland of Pompton Lakes. She also leaves her 5 grandchildren; Shawn Carida, Alyssa and Tiff Poline, and Cole and Kylie Mulholland, and by her 6 sisters and brothers, Norman (and Eleanor) Cole of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, Gilbert (and June) Cole of Wheelock, Vermont, Gloria (and Bob) Fisher of Shohola, Pennsylvania, David Cole of Rockaway, New Jersey, Raymond (and JoAnn) of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Janet Carnevale of Clifton, New Jersey.
Friends may visit atthe Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home,96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Sunday, March 21, from 5 – 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at 7 pm. Her private burial will be at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
