Roxbury Township, Mrs. Doris “Dori” Stierli, 85, died on July 2, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. A loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Dori was born and raised in Kearny, and lived in Sparta before moving to Roxbury Township 56 years ago. After earning her teaching degree from Russell Sage College, she became a physical education teacher and later worked for the Morris County Sheriff’s Office in Morristown for many years. In her retirement, she continued her work as an accomplished folk art painter.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, former Mayor Edward C. Stierli in 1969, and by her very dear friend Emmet Todd in 2010. She is survived by her two sons; James R (and Maureen) of Netcong and David (and Diana) Stierli of Landing, five grandchildren; David, Brian, Kevin, Edward (and his fiancé Amanda) and Linda, as well as her lifelong friend Edith Krannich.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, 10 am at the Funeral Home, with the interment to follow at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery.
