William C Springer

Roxbury Township,   Mr. William C Springer, 85, died on September 15, 2011 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband and father.  Bill was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and moved to Succasunna 51 years ago. He served in the U S Navy during WW II aboard 10 Naval Ships and was awarded the American Theatre Medal, European Theatre Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal, and the Victory Medal, and received a letter of Commendation from President Harry Truman. He was a Technical Photographer at Bell Laboratories in Whippany for 44 years, and member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and of St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna.

Bill was predeceased by his brother Albert Bauer last year and is survived by his wife Maureen Springer of 54 years. He also leaves his 4 children; Patricia Janson-Trapasso, Loretta (and James) Janson-Boyle of Chester, William Springer of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Barbara (and Alan) Trufolo of Succasunna, his 13 grandchildren; Bryan, Jacqueline, Jason, Patricia, Bonnie, Melissa, James, Garrett, Jennifer, Cara, Christine, Nicholas, and Brandon, and 14 great grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Davis and Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna (973-584-7264) davishepplewhitefh.com on Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be on Monday, 10 am, at St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna, with interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Chester. Donations may be made in his name to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 140 Littleton Rd, Ste 200, Parsippany, NJ  07054.
