Roxbury Township, Thomas “Thom” Frank Torode, 60, passed away on August 5, 2022, with is family & loved ones by his side after a 4.5-years battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Friend, and Entrepreneur with a heart for service and helping others.
Thom was born in Williamsport, PA to Frank and Ilene Torode and grew up in various parts of the US and Kwajalein Atoll before settling in New Jersey. Thom had a Bachelor of Arts from Fairleigh Dickenson University and an MBA from Phoenix University. Thom was an entrepreneur who successfully started and operated a variety of businesses. Starting Sunrise Business Advisors, as a business coach he wanted to share his experience to help other small business owners to succeed and profit.
He was active in the community and was a member of the Mt. Olive Chamber of Commerce and the Roxbury Rotary Club and previous Flemington Rotary Club where he served as President. Thom was a Den Leader, an Assistant Scout Master, participating in events including popcorn sales to support his son to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Thom was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Succasunna, NJ and served in multiple positions including church council. Most recently Thom was on the executive committee as Director at Large for Business Network International. Thom was awarded Knight Commander in the League of Legend Heroes for St. Baldrick’s, having shaved his head for 10 years to raise funds for research for pediatric and adolescent cancer research.
Thom was a devoted Husband to Katherine “Kit” Thompson for 23 years and Father to Emmanuel and Marie Torode. He shared his passion of travel, skiing, scuba diving, hot air balloons, cooking, food, wine, cars, flowers, and all things beautiful with them. Most of all Thom shared his faith and belief in God. That strong faith is what gave him the courage during treatments, with the belief of a cure and always being positive knowing that his life’s journey was in God’s hands.
He is pre-deceased by his father, Frank, and will be missed by his mother, Ilene, his wife, Kit, his son Emmanuel “Manny”, his daughter Marie, 3 sisters Debbie Hixon, Laurel Cripe, and Cheryl Cooper, their spouses, nieces, and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 11 am at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 203 Eyland Avenue, Succasunna, NJ and will be shared online, link will be provided.
In lieu of flowers Donations can be made in Thom’s name to St. Baldricks, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or your favorite charity.
Also, a fund for the children will be announce at a future date.
