Thomas F Frischmann

Thomas F. Frischmann, age 85, of Succasunna, NJ, died on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center. Thomas was born January 7, 1940 in Ozone Park (Queens), NY to the late Joseph A. Frischmann and Alice V. (Brown) Frischmann. He first grew up in Ozone Park and then moved to North Bellmore, NY in 1950. He graduated from St. Agnes High School in Rockville Center, NY in 1957. He then attended the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT and graduated with a BS in Engineering in 1961. He served on USCGC Pontchartrain (1961-1962) before attending Naval Aviation Training where he learned to fly fixed wing aircraft (HU-16 and C-130) to fly Search and Rescue as well as SAR combat support missions in Vietnam. Later in Mobile, AL he attended training to qualify to fly helicopters (HH-52).

During his time serving in the Coast Guard, his duty stations included: CGAS Brooklyn, NY; Clark Air Base in Angeles City, Philippines; CG Aviation Training Center in Mobile, AL; CGAS Traverse City, MI; and finally commander Atlantic area, chief SAR Branch, Governors Island, NY. He served for 20 years as an officer in the United States Coast Guard earning the rank of Commander before retiring from military service in 1981.

After retiring from the Coast Guard, Tom & Maureen moved their family first to Randolph, NJ and then to Succasunna, NJ. He worked as a corporate pilot for a few different companies, the most recent as chief pilot for Loews Corporation. He retired from that position in the mid 1990s after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

Tom was a proud father and loving husband. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maureen (Sullivan) Frischmann, his children Mary Beth (and B.D.) Lenz, Kevin (and Gloria) Frischmann, Colleen (and Jon) Rucker, Dan Frischmann, Dennis (and Lauren) Frischmann, Tim Frischmann, and Maura Frischmann, and his grandchildren Julia, Evan, Michael, Krista, Jordan, Alex, Max, T.J., Kyran, Akyra, Ellie, Maeve, and Winnie, and his sisters Mary Lou Arnold, Alice Rucker, Anne Marie (and Mike) Amato, and Gina (and Tony) Aquilia. In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his daughter Kristine Frischmann (1981), his son Thomas J. Frischmann (July 16, 2025), his sisters Eileen Frischmann (1990) and Joanne Frischmann (2020), and his brother John (Jack) Frischmann (2022). He also leaves his many nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ, 973-584-7264 on Monday, August 4th from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, August 5th at 10:00 am at St. Therese R.C. Church in Succasunna, NJ followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
