Steven Carter LeSeur, Sr., 69, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 1, 2026.
He was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, to Helen (née Hiner) and Leland LeSeur and spent the first 12 years of his life there before moving to New Jersey. He graduated from Whippany Park High school and attended County College of Morris afterwards. He met his wife, Aurelia, in 1987 and they had two children, Jacqueline and Steven, Jr.
Steve was an avid traveler, having been to Paris three times, most recently in 2025 with a bucket list excursion to Normandy and its historic beaches. He also got to another bucket list destination, Hawaii, the year before. He and his wife traveled to numerous other European countries, Caribbean islands, and a special favorite, Key West.
He was a “foodie” in every sense of the word. In addition to owning the Sweet Shop in Cedar Knolls for many years and supervising the Overlook Medical Center cafeteria until his retirement in 2019, he greatly appreciated good food. Pancakes were among his favorites, and he treated them as if they were not only breakfast, but an event. Syrup was never optional, and moderation was never part of that experience.
He is remembered by his children for his “dad” humor and easygoing manner. By his wife, he is remembered and being devoted and loyal to the end. He is missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Aurelia; his children, Jacqueline (Martin) and Steven, Jr. (Jennifer); his cherished grandchildren, Carter and Charlie; his brother, Gary (Elaine); and his nieces, nephew, cousins, and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Beverly.
A memorial mass will be held privately. Burial will take place at Hamilton Church Cemetery in Monterey, Virginia beside his parents and other family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation at www.sca-aware.org.
