Robert Elms, P.E.

Mt. Olive Township, Mr. Robert “Bob” I Elms, P.E., 77, died on December 19, 2011 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Dover. He was born and raised in Staten Island, NY and lived in Kwajalein, part of the Marshall Islands, before moving to Budd Lake 42 years ago. At the age of 16 he became an Eagle Scout of Troop #38 in S.I. and then graduated from the Brooklyn Technical High School in 1952, later earning his B S in Mechanical Engineering from NJIT in 1972. He was a mechanical engineer who worked at Picatinny Arsenal as a Civilian Supervisory Engineer for 28 years before retiring in 1988. He was a former member of the Mt. Olive Town Council, served on the Planning Board, and the Community Dispute Panel. He was a former Scout Master and an Assistant Scout Master of the B S of A, Troop #312, Budd Lake, member of the Masonic Lodge F & A M, #410, Budd Lake, the VASA Order of America, Three Crowns, and was very active in his community.

He is survived by his wife Barbara A (Grignon) of 43 years, 4 children; Lisa (and Greg) Elms-Elliott of Canadensis, PA, Laura Jacobs of New Port Richey, FL, Kevin (and Doreen) Elms of Flanders, and Tara (and Darren) Henderson of Budd Lake, brother Richard Elms of Bushnell, Fl, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 3 nieces, and 2 nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Elms many years ago.
