Robert Edwin Lee
April 10, 1927 – December 6, 2025
Robert “Ned” Edwin Lee, of Mt. Arlington, New Jersey and Jupiter, Florida, lived a life of service to community and country.
Born in Newark, he graduated from Newark Academy and joined the Navy in WWII and continued his commission as an officer in the Naval Reserve. After WWII he earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Steven’s Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
He was a partner in the family business, Lee’s Park, along the shores of Lake Hopatcong, until retiring at age 78 when he donated the park to Morris County Parks Commission, preserving access to the lake and its boating, swimming and recreational activities to the public.
As a local businessman and volunteer Lee was an active member of the community serving on the Mt. Arlington planning and school boards, on the Lake Hopatcong Planning Commission and as a Red Cross water safety instructor at Drew University.
He believed in the preservation of Lake Hopatcong and was an avid boater and fisherman as a member of Knee Deep Club, the Lake Hopatcong, NJ Anglers Sports Association Cath and Release program, the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum and a lifetime member of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club. Never without a dog, Lee supported Airedale and Welsh Terrier rescue programs the in Northeast and Florida.
A lifelong reader, and lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed genealogical and ancestry research, bike riding, boating and water skiing.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Beatrice (Cronholm) Lee, daughter Carol Lee of Vermont (Scott Stickle), son Robert L Lee of Norway (Kenny Lee), three granddaughters, and nine great grandchildren.
A private event is planned for the family in the future. Contributions in his memory can be made to the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum in Landing, NJ where he had been a board member.
