Roxbury Township, Mr. Robert A. Smith, Jr, 63, died on July 18, 2026 at home.  He was born and raised in Newark, NJ and moved to Succasunna in 1966.  He graduated Roxbury High School in 1981 and played the saxophone in the marching band.  He also was a mummer for the Morris County Golden String Band.  He started Morris County College but did not graduate and yet he still learned to paint pictures and draw blueprints.  For a while he helped his father with his vending company until he took a job with AT&T which later became Lucent Technologies and then became Avaya doing sales in the customer service department.  He worked there for many years and left with an early package deal.  He then ended up doing handyman work for whoever needed his help and worked for several friends who had their own construction business.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making forts and being an uncle and a great uncle and hanging out with his friends.

He was predeceased by his father Robert A. Smith, Sr, in 2021 and by his sister Debra Lynn Smith in 1994.  He is survived by his mother Virginia E (Groninger) Smith of Succasunna, his sister Robin (and Eric) Shenk of Mt. Arlington, his niece Candice Linzmayer of Southampton, his nephews, Justin (and Ashley) Messina of Kenvil, Ryan (and Kelsey) Messina of Hackettstown, and Jason Messina of Landing.  He is also survived by his great nieces and great nephews, Brandon, Adelyn, Elaina, Morgan, Finley, Adriana, Malia, Jordana, Colton and Elora.

Friends may visit on Thursday, July 23^rd, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ.  His Funeral Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home.  Friends may also come to the Funeral Home on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., the interment will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester, NJ.
