Mt. Olive Township, Mr. Richard N Schrum, 74, died on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at his home. He was born and raised in New Brunswick, before moving to Flanders 47 years ago. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College of Engineering and later earned his Master’s degree from Florida Institute of Technology. He worked for 41 years as a Mechanical Engineer at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway Township. He served in the US ARMY Reserves from 1973  – 1985. He was involved for many years in Scouting and served as the Cubmaster of Pack 47 in Flanders. He enjoyed woodworking, model trains and planes, and traveling the world with his wife.

He was predeceased by his infant son Peter R Schrum, his parents John and Theresa Schrum and his brother John W Schrum. He is survived by his wife Marcelle L Schrum of 51 years, and by his son Steven R Schrum of Dallas, Texas.

Friends and family may visit at Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ, 973-584-7264 on Thursday, August 28th from 10 – 11 am. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, at 11 am at the Funeral Home, in Succasunna, NJ followed by interment at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Chester.
