Jefferson Township, Mr. Richard J Gentile, 87 of the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson Township, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2022 at the VNA Hospice in Dover.
He was born and raised in Chatham NJ, and was a graduate of Chatham High School. He lived in Succasunna for 25 years before moving to Lake Hopatcong 23 years ago. He attended St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna.
He was the son of the late Mario Gentile and Rose DeAlvarez. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann P (nee Hegarty) Gentile of 64 years; three children, Richard Jr, James (and Lucy); Patricia (and William) Johnson, eight grandchildren, Danielle (and Zach), Ashley, Adam, James, Jordan Gentile, Derek, Brandon & Ryan Johnson and three Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother George and wife Jean DeAlvarez. He is predeceased by his brother Charles Gentile and sister Joan Gerity.
Richard owned various businesses during his life, most recently he retired as the founder and President of Pave King Inc. and Kings Highway Industrial Complex in Roxbury Township. He was a long-time member and former president of the Lake Mohawk Sparta Gun Club. During the winter months he resided in Haines City Fl. where he competed in Skeet and participated in the World Shoot. He also enjoyed boating on Lake Hopatcong.
Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna, NJ 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Tuesday, May 31st, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Therese R.C. Church, Main Street, Succasunna on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. The entombment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover.
