Roxbury Township, Mr. Antonino “Nino” Vassallo, 64, died on December 14, 2013 at the Morristown Medical Center. He was born in Sferracavallo part of Palermo, Sicily, Italy. He came to Newark in 1972 and also lived in West Orange before moving to Succasunna 30 years ago. He worked for several bakeries before buying J C’s Bakery in Parsippany with his partners in 1982. He was a member of St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna.

He is survived by his wife Agatha Vassallo of 36 years, 4 daughters Piera Salerno, Lisa Koves, Dana (and Joseph) Bamber, and Joanne (and David) Madalena, sister Pietra (and Angelo) Vassallo Tomassoni, and brother Rosario Vassallo. He was the beloved grandfather of Christopher Hallen, Joseph Miller III, Nicholas Bamber, Donna Miller, Dominique Salerno, Robert Bamber, Gabriella Salerno, Karlie Bamber, Francesca Madalena, Nadia Madalena , & David Madalena Jr., 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Tuesday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, 10 am at St. Therese R C Church, with the interment to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
