Linda Faye Weinstein was born September 12, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY to parents Joseph and Sarah Weinstein.
She attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn and went on to obtain a Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene from City College New York and New York University. She began her dental hygiene career at 4 Wall Street. Linda married Dr. Jay Yarnis in 1961 and settled in Succasunna, NJ. Together they started a successful dental practice in Lake Hopatcong, NJ.
Linda was a great fan of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural style and traveled to see his various projects throughout the country. She was also an avid opera fan and rarely missed a performance at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City.
Throughout her life Linda was very passionate about women’s rights and enabling women to choose their own path. She was one of the original founders of Sugar and Spice Nursery at Temple Shalom in Succasunna, NJ. The nursery was open to the public and served the Roxbury community for many years.
Linda was a great patron of Community Hope based in Parsippany, NJ. They provide support, services and housing to people who face poverty, homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders. Since 1985 they have also provided special services to Veterans.
Linda is survived by her spouse Dr. Jay Yarnis, brother Steven Weinstein, son Dr. Matthew Yarnis, daughter Rachel Yarnis, daughter in law Maggie Yarnis, and her two grandchildren Morgan and Jack.
