Julie Karen Johannesen, (86), died on November 22, 2024, at Holy Spirit Hospital in Mechanicsburg, PA.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lived in Mt Arlington, NJ for many years before moving to Mechanicsburg, PA. She was a member of Hillside Lutheran Brethren Church in Succasunna, NJ.

Karen, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and an unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her.

She is survived by her husband Allen Johannesen of 50 years, and by her son Mark (Wendy), granddaughter Ella, sisters-in-law Christine Thronsen, and Gladys Johannesen, nieces Wendy (Paul Preihs), Heidi (Christian Hoffer), Becky Johannesen, Julie Johannesen and nephews Leif (Amy Thronsen), Eric (Janice Johannesen) and Peter (Brenda Johannesen) and many great nieces and great nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents Arne and Johanne Thronsen, brother Walter and brother-in-law, Bruce Johannesen.

Before retiring, Karen was employed as an executive secretary for the president of Cities Service Oil Company, New York, NY.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main St., Succasunna, N.J. (973-584-7264) on Monday, January 13th, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Hillside Lutheran Brethren Church in Succasunna, NJ on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025 at

11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior to the service, at 10:00 am.  A lunch reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
