Joyce Susan Marcianti

Willsboro, NY.  Mrs. Joyce Susan Marcianti

A beloved wife of 60 years, mother, grandmother, and sister, Joyce Susan Marcianti (Van Brunt), 81 of Willsboro, NY, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025 surrounded by her family after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Joyce was born on December 25, 1943 in Jersey City, NJ and raised in Carlstadt, NJ. She married Paul, her high school sweetheart in 1965 and later moved to Moonachie, NJ. After having three children, they moved to Roxbury, NJ in 1975 where they continued to raise their family. Their life-long dream of living on a lake came true in 2007 when they moved into their newly built, lakefront home on Lake Champlain in Willsboro, NY.

Joyce attended Bergen County Vo-Tech High School where she was one of the first female students to study chemical technology. After graduating in 1961, she attended the Eastern School for Physicians Aids in NYC and graduated as a medical laboratory technologist in 1963. She then began her professional career as an Analyst in the Research Division at Merck Pharmaceutical Company in Rahway, NJ. She further pursued her education in the evenings at Fairleigh Dickinson University studying chemistry, German and English literature. She left Merck to focus on raising her family – a love she found very gratifying and rewarding. She eventually returned to work as a Senior Lab analyst at ICM Laboratories in Randolph NJ, where she was reunited with her love for science.

Throughout her life, Joyce had a love for animals, especially her dogs (Hep, Gidget, Misty, Lady, Jessy, Clint, Zach) and cat (Zhivago). She also loved to give back to her community by volunteering her time at many local charities, including her local church, nearby animal shelters, Trap, Neuter and Release Organization in Willsboro, and her town’s beautification group where she shared her love for gardening. Joyce would often foster animals from the local shelter. Joyce and Paul always made time for their family, friends, and animals, but most of all their grandchildren. They would travel all over New Jersey to spend time with them sharing in all their activities.

Joyce and Paul loved to host family and friends, first at their house in “Berkshire Valley” where they spent countless weekends with their family, friends, and neighbors barbequing, swimming and simply enjoying each other’s company. Upon their retirement, they moved into their lakefront home on Lake Champlain and continued their love of hosting family and friends, especially over the summer months when guests would visit and take part in numerous water sports activities, including boating, swimming, kayaking, jet-skiing, fishing, and paddle-boarding, and of course a trip to Ethel’s for her favorite ice cream. Joyce also loved playing table games with her grandchildren, including spoons, card games, and scrabble, and in her earlier years, nerf gun wars.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul Marcianti; daughters Jeanette Halkias (Paul Halkias); Karen Maguire (Jim Maguire); son Bill Marcianti (Rose Marcianti); and brother Freddy Van Brunt; and grandchildren, Michael Maguire, Nicholas Halkias, Morgan Maguire, Paul Marcianti, and Gianna Marcianti.
