Joyce H Mooney of Brookside, NJ passed away on Dec 7th 2024 at her home, she was 88. Joyce grew up in Netcong, NJ. She was the daughter of Fred and Hazel Mooney also of Netcong. Her father was a landmark owner of Mooney Brothers Dairy Farm atop Mooney Mountain, NJ. He was a celebrated 32 degree Mason. After graduating from Netcong High School, Joyce attended Muhlenberg School of Nursing. Joyce moved to Brookside in 1970 with her five children, and as a single mom raised five children.
Joyce is survived by her 5 children; Cathy Bishop of Kenvil, NJ, Cheryl Tartaglia of North Port FL, Craig Mooney of Milford NJ, Douglas Mooney of Oakland Park FL and Daren and Sara Mooney of Quincy, MA. She was beloved by her seven grandchildren; Anthony Tartaglia, III, Jilliane Tartaglia Guilfoyle, North Port, FL, Britt, Kieran and, Malakai Mooney, Tolland, CT, Amanda and Kyle Mooney of Milford NJ. Five great grandchildren Alessandra, Lucas, and Gianna Guilfoyle, of FL, Khloe and Karysn Tartaglia of FL. Joyce is also survived by her younger sister Gail and Lee Grobe of Alexandria, VA. and her niece and nephews; Suzanne, David and Daniel Grobe of VA.
Joyce was employed by the Morris County Clerk Office for 23 years. Joyce was an avid reader of mysteries, and a die hard N Y Yankees fan who never missed a game. She was famous for her homemade brownies, Easter lamb cake, and gingerbread men. Joyce was a rare civilian who was aboard the USS Enterprise CVN-65 departing from NOB Norfolk, Va with her son Petty Officer Douglas F Mooney. Joyce will be missed by all her special neighbors of Brookside as well.
A Celebration of Joyce’s life will be announced in the Spring of 2025 in Netcong NJ.
