John B Hall

Roxbury Township,  Mr. John B Hall, 86, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2011 at the Regency Grande Nursing Center in Dover. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Lake Hiawatha and Rockaway Township for many years before moving to Ledgewood 25 years ago. He was the owner of Pool Man. Inc, in Ledgewood for many years and a member of St. Therese R C Church in Succasunna. He served in the U S Navy during WW II as part of LCT Group 24 supporting amphibious actions in the islands and of the South Pacific. He loved sports of all kinds but his passion was baseball. He played for the Washington Senators minor league farm team the Charlotte Hornet’s. After moving his family from Brooklyn to Lake Hiawatha he continued to play baseball in the Morris County Major’s for the Parsippany Tomahawks. John also swam competitively and in his late 30’s and received notoriety as the oldest competitor to win a Hub Lakes gold medal in the men’s open class of 18 and over. He also enjoyed spending time with his family especially summer vacations in Vermont where he found great joy losing fishing contests to his grandchildren. His other interests included singing, reading, listening to music and cooking.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy M (McCormack) of 61 years, son John G Hall and daughter-in-law Cathy of Landing, and grandchildren; Michelle and her husband David Brecher and Ryan and his wife Dana Hall.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, Jan 3rd, 10am, at St. Therese R.C. Church, 155 Main St., Succasunna, NJ, with the interment to follow at the Flanders Hillside Cemetery in Succasunna.
