Roxbury Township,   Mrs. Janet R. Amato, 76, died on October 2, 2013 at home. She was born in Dover and raised in Denville with her Lash cousins.  Graduate from Morris Hills HS class of 1955. She moved to Succasunna in 1969. She was a chaplain who volunteered at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover and at Merry Heart Nursing Home in Succasunna. She was a founder, life member, and served on the Board of Directors at RiverLife Church in Dover. Due to her love for children, she taught Sunday School for many years. The Lord was her passion and life.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Vito J Amato, 3 children; Rev. Brian P (and Suzanne) Amato of Succasunna, Rita L (and Rick) Priester of Alpharetta, GA, and Rob M (and Amanda) Amato of San Diego, CA, 5 grandchildren; Kristen M, Jonathan B, and Andrew R Amato, Sydney L and H R Priester IV, and brother Archie “Skip” Harrison of Paulinskill Lake, Stillwater ,NJ. 

Friends may attend a Memorial gathering at RiverLife Church, 227 S Morris St, Dover on Friday at 7 pm. Friends may then visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Saturday from 10 – 11 am. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am, at the Funeral Home, with the interment to follow at the Succasunna Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to American Cancer Society 800-227-2345 in the memory of Janet Amato.
