Stanhope, NJ     Mr. John “Jack” A Mitchell, Sr, 73, died on July 6, 2011 at Morristown Memorial Hospital. He was born in Kearny and grew up in Livingston. He then lived in Hillside before moving to Stanhope 39 years ago. He made prosthetics and orthotics for the Kessler Associates in East Orange for 28 years and then worked at Garden State Orthopedic in Morristown for 26 years.  He was a member of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, the Knee Deep Hunting & Fishing Club, and the Lake Hopatcong Darting Association.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen C Mitchell of 48 years, 2 children; John (and Lori) Mitchell of Blairstown and Kathleen Caffrey and Matthew Winnans on Hopatcong. He also leaves his 3 grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Shannon, and Matthew Jr. Former son-in-law Jeff Caffrey, sister Gail Adamo of SC and brother James Mitchell of Vernon. He was predeceased by his sister Mickey Mitchell.
