Iva L Sweeney

Roxbury Township, Mrs. Iva L. Sweeney, 89, passed away on July 31, 2014 at the Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. She went home to her Lord and to join her sweetheart “Eddie”. Iva was born in Roxbury Township and was a lifelong resident there. She was a lifelong member of the Succasunna United Methodist Church, where she devoted much of her time to the thrift shop where she had many good friends. Iva retired from Warner Chilcott Pharmaceuticals in Morris Plains after more than 25 years of employment.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward, of 66 years, in July 2013. She was also predeceased by her parents Floyd W and Clara Haggerty, brother Floyd W “Nip” Haggerty, sisters;  Betty Haggerty, Helen Cooper, Myrtle Burd, and dear daughter-in-law Christine Sweeney.

She is survived by her children; Kenneth (and Anne) Of  Maiden, NC, Lawrence (and Debra) of Sunset Beach, NC, Gary of Succasunna, NJ and Linda (and Doug) Scherzer of Calabash, NC. She also leaves her sisters; Lois Cooper of Wilson, NC, Bernice “Pat” (and Clarence) Clark of Succasunna and brother Gordon (and Violet) Haggerty of Wharton, NJ, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren who were her greatest joy in life; Kelly Bruno, Tracy (and Allan) Brucato, Kevin Sweeney, Jennifer (and Kevin) Lewis, Shannon (and Michele) Sweeney, Beth Sweeney, Jodi (and Jason Avery) Valecz, Terri (and Mike) Finnegan, April (and Michael) Lindstrom, Meagan (and Travis) Tedrow, Taira Brock, Nicholas Cerqueira, Lindsey and Jonathan Lewis, Kira and Brady Finnegan, Mathilda and Elsa Sweeney, and Luella Tedrow.

Friends may visit at the Davis & Hepplewhite Funeral Home, 96 Main Street, Succasunna 973-584-7264 (davishepplewhitefh.com) on Monday from 3 – 7 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, 10 am, at the Succasunna United Methodist Church , with the interment to follow at the Succasunna  United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Succasunna United Methodist Church, 91 Main St, Succasunna, NJ 07876, the Compassionate Care Hospice, 400 West Blackwell St, Dover, NJ 07801, or to your local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
